Graduate education usually refers to education in any of a variety of university graduate and professional schools following graduation from a four-year college with a bachelor’s degree. Another use of the term postgraduate refers to students taking a fifth year of secondary school education, in effect repeating their last, or senior, year, usually at a private school, after having graduated from another, usually public, school. Most students enroll in secondary school postgraduate programs to improve their academic record and their chance for admission at selective colleges and universities.
